Journal - Day 7 - 14/5/03

Off from Beeston at 10.30 a bit later than usual. (Landlady contributed £5 to the Home-Start fund) Weather forecast is for rain in the morning clearing in the afternoon. As it turned out it rains in the afternoon. Cold wind blowing across the steppes of Norfolk. Memories of doing a job at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital circa 1970.

We were walking down a road discussing what a tower in the distance was when a jeep pulled up to offer help. Mr Cooke climbs out and suggests that we go round a footpath on his land between two lakes. Saved us half a mile a we had a tremendous view of the birds. (much appreciated)

Went past fields with dear in ? Fallow – most inquisitive and interested in us.

Hares in the fields running after one another. Heron flying over – ponds in back gardens surrounded by strings to stop them taking all the goldfish.

Incredibly we saw the sign for a pub and were planning to stop for lunch but it was closed!!!! – what has happened to Norfolk?

Down lots of lanes and across fields eventually ending up sitting on the seat in front of the church at Hindolveston.
