Journal - Day 4 - 11/5/03
Off from Bury St Edmonds after a very pleasant stay at the B&B – swimming pool very welcome with sore feet. Eleanor liked the Dog – very easy going character.

Travelling North out of Bury had to do some road walking to get into the country – it’s really scary with the cars and trucks coming down on you – we really should make better provision for pedestrians and cyclists.

Eventually made our way to the river – very pleasant trip along the side of this and then through the woodlands.

One village struck me as to how wealthy the church used to be. There was a grand Georgian vicarage, a big house for the curate and another vicarage down the road. Reed thought that it all came from wool – fantastic.

Most of the walk today was over the flattish land with woods and open fields. Again saw lots of birds – Sly larks, blackbirds, crows, pigeons,

We had a call from Ben Jo & JP and arranged to meet them lunchtime – were able to talk them in to a crossing point. – lots of great sandwiches and drinks – thanks Jo.

We all then set of down the track for a couple of miles passing the pigs – see photos. Finally JP had to be taken back as the pushing was too hard.

Shortly after we heard from Andy at BBC East and arranged to meet up with him at the next pub for photos – we had to walk a mile further on for a good location. – what it is to be celebs.

Saw a few animals on the way – lots of rabbits, a hare, a deer far in the distance - ? Roe, Monkjack browsing by the side of the road.

Finally into the Thomas Pain Hotel at Thetford for a good dinner with Andrew Anne & Emily Rose. Thetfords been nicely laid out with footpaths by the water.

A most enjoyable day all round.
